The RFAA Continues to Give Back

Sweat Suits

Racer Football Alumni Association (RFAA) Board members presenting Coach Mitch Stewart with a $2068 check for sweat suits for the football team during the Hall of Fame reception hosted by the RFAA at the Murray Country Club. Board members pictured L to R are Jeff Liles, Bud Byars, Paul McCreary , Tony Boone, Coach Mitch Stewart, Roger Rushing, Cecil Wolberton and Tony Ryan.

Since the inception of the RFAA in June 2017 the members have raised over $43,000 in just our first 6 months and with this check already distributed over $24,000 back to the football program supporting the nutrition program, notebook computers for the coaching staff and enhanced wall graphics for the locker room and training facility. We have a solid cash reserve of close to $15,000 earmarked for our four pathways of giving to Racer football; (1) nutrition, (2) equipment, (3) facilities and (4) education.

In 2018, the need for outside financial support of Racer football is real. The budget cuts to all public universities in Kentucky is having an impact on all areas of the Murray State campus and those cuts are being felt daily in our football program.

2018 GoalsThe RFAA fundraising goal for 2018 is $80,000 with a priority focus on the nutrition program dubbed as “Racer Fuel” by the coaching staff. “Racer Fuel” will supplement  a now year-round conditioning program thanks to an NCAA grant funding summer school and conditioning for the next five summers.
